Sharing in the Journey

Steps in the process

Pre-Entrance

Open to women who sense a call to investigate the SSJ life and charism. While living independently, you are introduced to the charism, prayer and ministries of the Sisters of St. Joseph.

Discernment is the process

in which we sift through

all of the information available

to us in order to find,

as best we can,

where the spirit of God,

the spirit of truth,

may be leading us.

Pre-Novitiate

Women who choose

to explore and follow their journey further. . .
continue their own ministry. . .
share community living

and prayer with a group

of SSJ women.
This phase continues for a period from nine months

to two years.

Novitiate

For two years, novices move into a formation house and enter a
structured formation phase where, under direction, she continues to:  discern her call to religious life; grow in love of Scripture and of the Gospel counsels of poverty, chastity

and obedience; increase her knowledge of SSJ spirituality
and the history of the Congregation; fully integrate aspects of SSJ community life and ministry.  When completed, she commits to vowed life

for one year.

Temporary

Commitment

Temporary Commitment

is a time of deepening integration of her life as she lives interdependently

in community, shares faith and deepens her relationship with Jesus through prayer, study, and varied apostolic ministry experiences.

This process continues for 3-6 years as she continues to discern

and assess her ability to live as a vowed

member of the

Sisters of St. Joseph.

Where will these steps lead me?
