Mission & Ministry

St. Patrick Haven

Website:

St. Patrick Haven was originally founded as an outreach of St. Patrick parish in 1984 to provide shelter for homeless persons.  Eventually, St. Pat’s Haven became a ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph.  Today, the shelter is strictly for men and can accommodate as many as 21 each night.  The men come in the evening and leave by eight o’clock the next morning.  They may return each night as long as they follow the rules:  no guns, no drugs, no alcohol, no fighting on site. Unlike other shelters that turn away men who are visibly intoxicated, St. Patrick Haven welcomes them as long as they do not cause trouble.  The Haven serves dinner on Saturday and Sunday which is supplied by area churches.  Sister Marie Eileen Moyer serves as administrator and Sister Mary Fromknecht as President of its Board.
